Join us for the official launch of Conscious Capitalism in San Diego
How a conscious approach to business fuels growth and goodwill
On Monday, May 11, 2015, Conscious Capitalism, a global movement dedicated to elevating humanity through business, is officially launching in San Diego. We invite you to attend our inaugural event featuring Greg Koch, CEO of Stone Brewing Company and Andrew Hewitt, founder of GameChangers 500.
Andrew Hewett created GameChangers 500 to shine a spotlight on the world’s top purpose-driven organizations using business as a force for good. Andrew will share how he is leading the movement to redefine success in business through their mission to inspire leading companies to make the shift from “For-Profit” to “For-Benefit,” prioritizing environmental and social impact in addition to revenue generation.
CCSD’s President R. Michael Anderson will lead an interactive Q&A with Greg Koch to uncover how Stone’s mindful and collaborative approach has fueled Stone’s sales and positively impacted the community. Greg will interact with audience members and discuss evocative topics, such as:
- The impact of Stone’s values on their financial success
- Tips for maintaining integrity and culture in the midst of rapid growth
- How the four pillars of Conscious Capitalism- Higher Purpose, Conscious Leadership, Conscious Culture and Stakeholder Orientation- are demonstrated at Stone Brewing Company
- Greg’s advice for business leaders who want to start a conscious company or change an existing culture

His research has led him to be featured in major media such as BBC World News, Forbes and Fast Company, speak at premier venues such as TEDx and the Social En- trepreneurship World Forum, and work with both innovative new companies like Zappos.com as well as consult century old corporations like Kraft Foods that are transition- ing to the “new game”.
Andrew’s progress in helping define a new “For-Benefit” model of business earned him a seat on the Advisory Council for the Fourth Sector Mapping Initiative that is helping the US government formalize the For-Benefit legal model to become a new fourth sector of the economy, joining the existing three sectors—for-profit, non-profit and government.
Andrew’s passion to inspire young leaders to seek careers at For-Benefit companies has him actively involved with universities such as Princeton, Harvard, and the United Nations University for Peace.
After years of growing up in snowy Canada, Andrew now spends most of his time de- frosting in Encinitas California where he is leading the charge to build a regional ecosystem to support local For-Benefit businesses.
Since Koch started the company with President and Co-founder Steve Wagner in 1996, Stone has become one of the fastest-growing and highest-rated breweries in the world, thanks to dedicated fans and a determination to brew nothing but truly remarkable beer. Koch passionately believes that environmental and social sustainability go hand in hand with brewing amazing beer, and has instilled those principles into the company’s business practices. His vision and enthusiasm for the art of brewing and dedication to supporting local, organic small farms has shaped the company’s two award-winning Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens restaurant experiences in San Diego County. This vision will spread nationally and internationally when the company opens production breweries and destination restaurants in Richmond, Virginia, and Berlin, Germany (the latter making Stone Brewing the first American craft brewer to own and operate a brewery in Europe). Koch is dedicated to supporting communities, and through Stone’s philanthropic efforts, has donated nearly $3 million to charitable and nonprofit organizations throughout the world since co-founding the company.
Koch was knighted by the Belgian Brewers Federation in 2010, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the San Diego region in 2011, was named the 2012 Most Admired CEO by San Diego Business Journal and is currently on the Business of Craft Beer Advisory Board at San Diego State University. When time allows, Koch enjoys speaking at TEDx Talks, conferences, professional organization meetings, universities and events on topics such as beer, business philosophy, food philosophy, sustainability, ethics and unconventional marketing. Co-author of two books—The Craft of Stone Brewing Co.: Liquid Lore, Epic Recipes, and Unabashed Arrogance and The Brewer’s Apprentice: An Insider’s Guide to the Art and Craft of Beer Brewing, Taught by the Masters—Koch is recognized as one of the world’s leading advocates and experts on craft beer and the brewing industry.
Koch has visited 53 countries and speaks poor Japanese, worse French and passable English. He is working on learning German, albeit slowly.
