In the news
How did Walmart get cleaner stores and higher sales? Answer: They paid their people more (plus offered more training and schedule flexibility). After decades of very low wage practices, Walmart is now starting to see the benefits of a better image and stronger sales due to its Conscious Capitalism-like change in Stakeholder Orientation. They still have a long way to go, but it is a start. Now, if only their investors can see the long-term gains here, they can continue down this path.
Impact
Knowing that their customers want to live more sustainably, IKEA is creatively and innovatively applying circular economy methods into its products and services. Not only can you buy more sustainable products, but also repair, rent, share, bring back, and resell their products back to them. Why does this matter for them? Well, because sustainable living products sales increased by 29% from 2014 to 2015 and are only projected to continue to rise. Sustainable living is important to IKEA, important to their customers and sales reflect this.
